Aegis Introduces Optical Performance Monitor Products
Aegis Semiconductor, a leading supplier of cost-effective wavelength monitoring and control solutions, today announced the availability of its new optical performance monitor (OPM) product line, which measures optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) in addition to channel power and wavelength of DWDM signals. Aegis’ OPM is priced at $2,250 in production quantities and is available in the industry’s smallest form factor. It can also be ordered with a DPRAM interface to match the form, fit and function of many existing host-system designs.

Aegis Optical Channel Monitor Passes Telcordia Qualification
Aegis Semiconductor, an emerging leader in dynamic optical components and systems, today announced that the mosquito™ Optical Channel Monitor (OCM) has successfully completed all Telcordia standard GR-468-CORE testing. The Telcordia standard GR-468-CORE calls for successful completion of stringent benchmark tests to demonstrate required reliability for optical components. These tests must be passed prior to field installation by communications equipment suppliers to ensure long equipment lifetime even in very harsh operating conditions.

Woburn, MA and Orlando, FLA - September 9, 2003, Aegis Semiconductor, an emerging leader in dynamic optical components and subsystems, today announced it will showcase hornet, a new tunable optical filter (TOF) that is currently being developed by Aegis. The hornet TOF is based on the Active Thin Films™ technology platform developed by Aegis, a platform that enables the manufacturing of tunable components at the size, reliability, and price of passive components. The hornet is integrated into an innovative 2-fiber TO-5 package, providing a compact, reliable and cost effective alternative to tunable optical filters based on mechanical actuation or other technologies based in butterfly packages. The hornet has no moving parts, and operates over the C or L bands in an epoxy-free optical path.
