Aegis Lightwave Acquires CardinalPoint Optics
Aegis Lightwave, a company focused exclusively on providing a wide range of optical monitoring solutions to the fiber-optics communications industry, announced today the acquisition of CardinalPoint Optics, an emerging leader in next-generation optical channel monitors. The acquisition augments Aegis’ product portfolio with optical channel monitors featuring advanced capabilities and lays the foundation of a center of excellence in central New Jersey.

Aegis Lightwave Awarded Patents for Tunable Thin-Film Filters
Aegis Lightwave, a leader in optical channel monitors for fiber-optic communication networks, today announced that it has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office entitled “Tunable Optical Filter on a CTE-Matched Transparent Substrate” (US Patent No. 7,304,799). This follows another patent issued in China in October of 2007 entitled “Index Tunable Thin Film Interference Coatings” (China Patent No. ZL02812224.0). These patents cover some of the key aspects behind the device design and fabrication of dynamically tunable thin-film interference filters that include layers with a thermo-optically tunable refractive index.

Aegis Lightwave Introduces Carrier-Grade Optical Layer Monitor
Aegis Lightwave, a company focused exclusively on providing a wide range of optical channel monitoring solutions to the fiber-optic communications industry, introduced today the Centurion™ OLM 8000, a standalone and NEBS-compliant optical layer monitor for cable operators and telecom service providers. The OLM 8000 is designed specifically for remote management of passive DWDM systems and will be on exhibit at NXTComm 2007 in Booth 1945, complete with a live demonstration.

Aegis Semiconductor Signs with Fabrinet to Expand Manufacturing Capacity of Channel Monitors
Aegis Semiconductor, the industry leading supplier of embedded monitoring in next-generation optical communications systems has brought online additional manufacturing capacity through Fabrinet, both companies announced today. Fabrinet is a Thailand-based global engineering and manufacturing services provider of complex optical and electro-mechanical components, modules and bulk optics. This additional capacity will boost output for the entire product line of Aegis RoHS-compliant channel monitors, enabling the company to keep pace with increasing customer demand. The market for Aegis optical channel monitors (OCM) is accelerating, fueled by increased deployments of reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) transmission systems.

Aegis Semiconductor Ships RoHS-Compliant Optical Channel Monitors
Aegis Semiconductor, a leading supplier of cost-effective wavelength monitoring and control solutions, announced today that its entire product line has been upgraded to meet the Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003. The new RoHS product platforms have been fully re-qualified to exceed Telcordia standards and RoHS-Compliant Optical Channel Monitors (OCM) have already begun shipping to customers.

Aegis Semiconductor Names Jeffrey Farmer as Chief Executive Officer
Aegis Semiconductor, a leading supplier of cost-effective wavelength monitoring and control solutions, has named Jeffrey D. Farmer as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He will also serve as a member of the Aegis board of directors. Aegis Semiconductor Awarded Patents for Tunable Optical Filter and Package
Aegis Semiconductor, a leader in cost-effective optical channel monitors for fiber-optic communication networks, today announced that it has been granted two patents by the U.S. Patent Office entitled “Tunable Optical Instruments” (US Patent No. 7,002,697) and “Package for Optical Components” (US Patent No. 6,985,281). These patents cover the design of thermo-optically tunable thin-film interference filters and a fiber-optic enclosure for these filters based on the low-cost transistor outline (TO) assembly package.

Aegis Semiconductor Secures $8 Million in Series D Financing
Aegis Semiconductor, a leader in cost-effective optical channel monitors for fiber-optic communication networks, today announced the closing of $8 million in Series D financing, bringing the company’s total investment to more than $30 million. The round of financing was completed with participation from existing investors including Vesbridge Partners, Alta Partners, Technology Venture Partners and Megunticook Management. The capital investment will be used to expand capacity in response to growing customer demand for DWDM channel monitors and to augment the product platform.
