Jeffrey Farmer
President and Chief Executive Officer


Jeff Farmer has significant CEO experience in leading the growth of venture-backed communications companies as well as general management, marketing, engineering and operations positions in the optical components, communications, aerospace and military markets. Prior to joining Aegis Lightwave, Mr. Farmer served as the Chairman and CEO of Continuum Photonics, leading the company as it became one of the leading optical switching companies in the world. He successfully led the company in its merger and integration, serving as the Vice President of Global Sales at Polatis Inc. Earlier in his career, Mr. Farmer served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and as a consultant at McKinsey & Co., focusing on strategic growth initiatives with RBOC’s throughout the U.S. Mr. Farmer holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School, an M.S. from MIT and a B.S. from the University of Minnesota. He also serves on the Board of the Massachusetts Network Communications Council.


Michael Cahill
Vice President of Advanced Development


Dr. Michael Cahill has over a dozen years of experience in the engineering and advanced development of optical fiber communications systems. He leads a team that is responsible for the early development of devices and sub-systems using Aegis' proprietary technologies. He is also responsible for the algorithm development and performance modeling of Aegis' industry-leading optical channel monitors. Prior to joining Aegis, Dr. Cahill was the Director of System Test at Terapulse where he led the in-house test development and customer integration of an all-optical polarizaton mode dispersion compensator. Earlier in his career Dr. Cahill was a Principal Optical Engineer at Sycamore Networks where he built the company's first ultra-long-haul transmission re-circulating loop, and he was also responsible for system design and optical control plane management. Dr. Cahill holds a B.E. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia.


Glenn D. Bartolini
Vice President of Engineering


Dr. Glenn Bartolini manages the design and development of hardware and firmware for optical systems and subsystems integrating Aegis tunable thin-film filter technology. He has more than 17 years of experience in optical fiber systems and subsystems development. Prior to Aegis, Dr. Bartolini was Principal Optical Engineer in the Optical Networking Group at Sycamore Networks, where he managed the development of industry standard erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, developed new test methodologies, and directed the system integration of amplifiers into an industry-leading ultra-long-haul transport system. Prior to Sycamore, Dr. Bartolini was a Development Manager at Corning. Dr. Bartolini holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University and a B.S.E.E. from Cornell University.


Christopher Koeppen
Vice President and General Manager


Chris Koeppen has over a decade of engineering and operations management experience in telecommunications systems and subsystems. Joining Aegis Lightwave via the acquisition of CardinalPoint Optics, where he was a founder and CEO, Dr. Koeppen is responsible for managing Aegis–NJ products and operations. Previously, Dr. Koeppen held senior leadership positions in ROADM-based optical networking companies, serving as VP of Engineering at Meriton Networks, VP of Engineering and Operations at Mahi Networks, and Director of Optical Product Realization at Photuris. Earlier in his career, at Lucent Technologies, he led the commercialization of Lucent’s optical channel monitor from prototype stage through high volume production. Dr. Koeppen received a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was an AT&T Bell Laboratories Scholar, and B.S. degrees in Physics and Mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University.


Mark Lourie
Vice President of Sales & Marketing


Mark Lourie has over 15 years of experience in the fiber-optic communications industry. He is responsible for sales, marketing & product management at Aegis Lightwave. At Aegis Lightwave since 2001, he has defined and taken to market low-cost optical channel monitors for ROADM-based fiber-optic networks. Mr. Lourie joined Aegis Lightwave from Lucent Technologies where he led market development activities for optical networking products in the service provider market. Prior to Lucent, he held product marketing roles at Corning and before that at EPITAXX (now JDSU). Mr. Lourie holds an MSEE from the University of Southern California.


David J. Parent
Chief Financial Officer, VP of Finance & Administration


David Parent is responsible for finance, legal, human resources and IT at Aegis Lightwave. He previously served as Director of Finance and Controller for Integral Access, Inc., a supplier of VoIP access equipment (acquired by Telco Systems). While at Integral Access, he helped raise more than $100 Million in 4 rounds of venture financing and established bank credit facilities. Prior to that Mr. Parent held numerous accounting and finance positions at National Semiconductor Corp. and Wright Express. Mr. Parent holds a B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Maine, an M.B.A. from Husson College in Maine and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).


Stephen Yedinak
Vice President of Operations


Steve Yedinak has over 25 years of manufacturing experience in the optical switching, telecommunications and computer industries. Mr. Yedinak is responsible for manufacturing operations at Aegis Lightwave. Prior to joining Aegis Lightwave he served as Vice-President of Manufacturing Operations at SuturTek Incorporated. Prior to that Mr. Yedinak was Director of Materials and Supply Chain at Continuum Photonics, an industry leading manufacturer of optical switching systems. At Coriolis Networks, he established a world class manufacturing organization supporting an extensive product line of metro-access optical switches. Before Coriolis he was Director of Materials at VideoServer, Inc., a leading manufacturer of multipoint videoconferencing servers. Mr. Yedinak holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from the State University of New York at Albany.
